Community Support
Alameda residents mobilized on behalf of APC to create a welcoming Wellness Center for neighbors in need of housing and health care.
Alameda voters prevailed on April 9, 2019, Special Election soundly defeating the opposition that tried to block the project. Compassion and community mutual care prevailed! Alameda residents hosted house parties, called thousands of voters, and reached out to their friends, neighbors, colleagues, and families.
Federal Government
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has approved APC’s program model and awarded APC conditional conveyance of the 3.6-acre property next to a shoreline park in Alameda. The project represents a national model to create a healing campus for frail seniors and individuals experiencing homelessness with high-level and complex care needs.
Alameda County
The Alameda County Health Care Services Agency (HCSA) is a strong project partner. The Wellness Center will further the County’s goals to serve homeless frail seniors and homeless individuals with acute and chronic medical and/or behavioral health conditions. HCSA plans to provide annual operating support for the Senior Permanent Supportive Housing program. HCSA also plans to provide capital funding and operating support for the Medical Respite/Primary Care facility.
