Alameda Point Collaborative and partners are developing the beautiful, high-acuity medical respite center designed by Ankrom Moisan.
The Wellness Campus respite will be the first purpose-built respite program in Alameda County. Located on the second floor of the Wellness Building, the medical respite will include a separate women’s sleeping area to foster a safe and welcoming environment for unhoused women, along with select private rooms for patients with infectious conditions or those receiving hospice care.
The 50-bed medical respite program will provide short-term recuperative stays for an estimated 400 unhoused adults in Alameda County yearly to resolve acute medical conditions, stabilize chronic conditions or receive hospice-level care. In addition, clients will receive long-term linkages to suitable housing and primary care to support clients to build promising futures in our care.
